Core Policy
- Confidentiality: Sequencing data are provided only to the investigator who submitted the sample. Users of the service are provided with a DNA sequencing web folder that is password protected to ensure confidentiality. Hard copy of data is provided by email or campus mail only when requested by the user.
- Conflict Resolution: The Core Director is usually able to resolve conflicts. It is the policy of the Core not to charge investigators who are dissatisfied with their data. The core director will encourage investigators who still have complaints to discuss the issue with any member of the Core’s advisory committee.
- Cost Recovery/Payment Policies: The Sequencing Core has set the price at $12 per sample for IUSOM investigators; $15 per sample for investigators outside of the School of Medicine. Work ordered by investigators has to include an account/PO number. Billing is done at the end of each month. In circumstances mistake occurred due to the Core’s work, payment will be waived in full.
- Prioritization: The DNA Sequencing Core has a 24 hours turn around time. All samples are handled on a first come first serve basis.
- Publications: The DNA Sequencing Core providing DNA sequencing as a service to investigators. The policy of the Core is not to seek authorship for Core personnel on publications as a result of providing DNA sequence data to investigators. Offers of authorship made to Core personnel by users of the core shall be declined.
- Quality and user satisfaction assessments: All DNA samples received by the Core will be examined by personnel of the Core to assess the possible outcome of the sequencing protocol. Investigators will be informed of this assessment in order to reach an agreement before resources are committed to carry out the project. A plasmid control is included with every run to assure the quality. Consultation and trouble shooting for sample preparation are provided free of charge.
